Future Mindset & Challenge
The Future Mindset & Challenge is an entrepreneurial project hosted by the Hult International Business School. The purpose of this project is to design and pitch an innovative new business idea to a panel of investors.
Due to the detrimental effects of the fashion industry on the Earth’s climate, our goal for this project was to help reduce textile waste using an AI software system that re-introduces old textiles back into the garment production line. This minimises the need for new textile production and also reduces the amount of landfilled garments.
The Dream Team
Throughout an invigorating 3-month period, I worked in a team of 5 marketing and innovation experts to deliver this project.
With each of our unique skills combined, we made up the ‘dream team’ as we all shared the same fiery ambition to succeed, creating a strong working environment and helping us to consistently deliver high-quality work.

Step 1: Brainstorming
Our team brainstormed 7 different new business ideas.
We ultimately decided to focus on building a fashion-related business as this was most appealing to our collective group interests.
Step 2: Research
We conducted primary research, through 50+ user questionnaires.
This helped us to identify the gaps in the market, and thus, determine which business idea to choose for our pitch.

Step 3: Choice
Based on our research (conducted in step 2), we identified that we wanted to pursue the ‘renewing old clothes’ idea (see step 1).
We named our business RNW (pronounced ‘renew’). RNW is an upcycling software for fashion companies that matches what clothing designs can be made using their unsold stock.
Step 4: Business Model Creation
We drafted a Business Model Canvas (BMC) to help map-out the various resources, activities, partners, value propositions, customers, channels, revenue streams, and cost structures associated with our business idea.

Step 5: Prototyping
To visually depict what RNW does, we designed a mock-up of the up-cycling software system, and we created a brief presentation deck explaining RNW’s business model.
